Meet ACT's new candidate for the Tāmaki electorate, James Christmas, at his first public meeting. James will be introduced by Brooke van Velden MP and will set out how he would advocate for Tāmaki in Parliament.
About James Christmas
I'm James Christmas, your ACT candidate for Tāmaki. I am asking for your electorate vote this year.
I am a barrister specialising in public law and national security. I spent a decade working at the highest levels of New Zealand government, including as a senior adviser to Prime Ministers Sir John Key and Sir Bill English.
I have a traditional view of the role of an electorate MP. You deserve someone who is easy to reach, quick to act, and willing to roll up their sleeves when you need problems solved.
If you give me your electorate vote this year, I pledge to be a visible and accessible MP.
I will work with our local representatives, fly the flag for Tāmaki in Parliament, and cut through government bureaucracy to get things done for the electorate.
Whether it's better planning for infrastructure, improving the state of our beaches, or tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, no matter the issue, my door will always be open.
When you elected Brooke van Velden in 2023, you showed the country that voters can make a centre-right government better by sending the ACT candidate to Parliament to represent Tāmaki.
This year, no matter who you give your party vote to, I'm asking you to lend me your electorate vote to be your local champion and Tāmaki's voice right at the heart of government.
We reserve the right to refuse entry to this event. No large bags are allowed at the venue.
